JoCasta Zamarripa has served on the Milwaukee Common Council since 2020, representing the city's south side. She previously served five terms in the Wisconsin State Assembly and previously worked for Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin. She was the first Latina and first openly LGBTQ+ member of the Milwaukee Common Council. She was unopposed in the August 11, 2026 Democratic primary for secretary of state.
